Fayette, Iowa - The Quincy University women's soccer team drew a 1-1 tie with the Upper Iowa University Peacocks on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 29).
Both teams started the game locked in on their goal. There were nine shots between the two teams in the first twenty minutes of play without a goal to show for. The Peacocks took some real estate in the Hawks defensive third at the end of the half. The Peacocks drew three corner kicks during this time that were all defended well by the Hawks.
Dache Johnson scored her first Hawks goal halfway through the second half.
Belle Dehner found Johnson on the run and she took a left-footed shot from the left side of the 18-yard box that soared over the goalkeeper to give the Hawks the lead.
The Peacocks responded late in the game with a goal off a corner kick to send the Hawks home with a tie.
Julia Mincher got the start in goal and finished with three saves.
The Hawks stay on the road with their next game at William Jewell College on Friday, October 3rd.
