Greyhounds Top Hawks at Home

Box Score Quincy, Ill. - The Quincy University women's soccer team faced a strong University of Indianapolis squad on Friday evening (Sept. 20). Quick offense from the Greyhounds shut the Hawks out 4-0.

The Greyhounds struck quick and often at Legends Stadium forcing two shots and a goal in the first minute of play. The first shot was stopped by senior goalkeeper Julia Mincher who parried the ball out of bounds. The Greyhounds placed the following corner kick just at the near post and forced the ball in.

The Hawks had their best shot of the first half just minutes later. After a corner kick bounced around, it  found Emme Kirn who cracked the ball back at the net, just missing the net. Indianapolis scored two more goals in the first half.

The Greyhounds started the half in similar fashion to the first by scoring a goal in the first five minutes. The Hawks responded by working their way into Greyhound territory and taking five shots in ten minutes. The Hawks best opportunity came from freshman Belle Dehner who took the second chance ball after the corner kick and sent it to the opposite upper-90. The Greyhounds keeper shot a hand up at the last second to keep her shutout.

Mincher recorded six saves in Friday's contest.

The Hawks will return for another home game on Sunday, September 22nd against the University of Illinois Springfield.
