LIBERTY, MO. - The Hawks played their final road match of the regular season on Saturday (Apr. 20) taking on the Cardinals of William Jewell for a second time this spring after opening the 2024 campaign against WJC on 2/10 coming away with a 15-9 win in Quincy.
This round went in favor of the Cardinals as William Jewell built a four-goal lead at the half that proved to be enough to withstand QU in the final 30 minutes to deal the Hawks a 10-7 loss.
Caidyn Prediger opened the scoring in the match, taking it to the cage himself for an unassisted goal to put Quincy ahead at the 13:38 mark. WJC responded with a pair of goals in the following three minutes to conclude the scoring and find the Hawks trailing 2-1 after one.
Jewell pressed the advantage in the second period, making use of a pair of QU penalties to convert man-up opportunities for goals in addition to another score at even strength to head into the locker room at the break with a 5-2 edge.
The Cardinals led off the second half with a goal before Christain Czarny found the back of the net on two occasions inside of 10 seconds on assists from Prediger and
Mason Marano, respectively, to close the gap to 6-3. A goal from
Mason Luoma off a feed from Czarny served as the final scoring strike for QU in the third as WJC added a couple more goals to its tally as well, bringing the score to 8-4 after 45 minutes.
Quincy outscored Jewell three goals to two in the final period of play; first getting an unassisted goal from
Mason Marano, sandwiched by the two WJC scores, before goals from
Sean Usher and
Grayson Kuan concluded the scoring for the match at a 10-7 final.
