Hawks Done in by Maryville in Final Match

QUINCY, Ill. - The Hawks played the role of host for a final time on Tuesday (Apr. 23) taking on the Saints of Maryville for a 6:00 PM match. MU used a persistent offensive presence throughout the match to overpower Quincy. Career save number 700 for Hawks keeper, Ryan Riggs served as a bright spot in the 21-8 loss.

QU found the back of the net on three occasions in the first 15 minutes while the Saints did so seven times. Mason Marano kicked off the scoring under a minute into the game with an unassisted score to put the Hawks ahead. Roughly seven minutes later Jackson Houston notched the second Quincy goal on a feed from Jayme Brain before Brain scored one himself in the waning moments of the first quarter to bring the tally to 7-3.

Blaine Lowrance scored the lone goal for QU in the second frame of play, converting on a man-up opportunity to answer a Maryville score that opened the period. MU added four more goals to close out the first half with a 12-4 advantage.

The Saints scored five times in the third period while Lowrance found the back of the net twice more for his second and third goals of the game with the first coming on an assist from Jordan Ernst

Christian Czarny and Brain tallied the final two goals for the Hawks in the fourth quarter with the Czarny goal assisted by Ernst. Maryville scored three times in the final 15 minutes to bring the final score to 21-8.
