QUINCY, Ill. - The Hawks played host to the Flyers of Lewis on Senior Day as 14 seniors were recognized and honored for their contribution to the program. On the field, Quincy scored in every period, but was unable to keep up after falling behind early in a 19-7 loss to the Flyers.
Lewis hammered away from the get go, scoring in the first minute and on three more occasions in the first couple minutes and change before a Quincy answer at the 12:39 mark from
Colin Usher on a feed from
Mason Marano to make it 4-1.
LU added three more goals to close out the period up 7-1 along with the first three scores of the second period as a pair of penalties for Quincy were converted into Flyer goals along with another at even strength to make it 10-1.
The Hawks out-scored their opponent for the remainder of the first half, finding the back of the next twice to just one from LU on goals for Marano and
Jordan Ernst to trail 11-3 at the break.
Quincy fared the best in the third, scoring a pair of goals in the frame from Marano and
Haakon Steen to three goals from its opponent to bring the tally to 14-5 after three.
Lewis scored the first five of the period before QU netted a pair in the final minute of play. Taking advantage of a man-up opportunity, Marano netted his third on a dish from
Blaine Lowrance before
Christian Czarny scored the final goal of the contest with a single second remaining, assisted by Marano, to narrow the final margin to 19-7.

The Hawks are on the road next week, traveling to Davenport to take on the Panthers for a GLVC showdown on Saturday (Apr. 6). The match is slated to begin at 11:00 AM.
