Quincy, Ill. - The Quincy University women's lacrosse team hosted #12 Maryville University for their non-conference home opener (Feb. 28). Despite a 17-5 loss to the Saints, the Hawks kept Maryville to under 20 goals, a first for the Saints this season.
Initially picked to win the GLVC, the Saints started the game with 12 unanswered goals.
Danielle Robinson broke through the defense on a fast break to give the Hawks their first goal in the second quarter.
Emily Leal followed Robinson with a cheeky toss near the net, assisted by fifth-year senior
Patricia Chavira.
Robinson drew a foul at the beginning of the third quarter, giving her a shot at a free position attempt. Robinson is eight for ten on free position shots. Leal, again, followed suit to Robinson with another goal of her own, this time assisted by
Mikenna Ham. Robinson finished the game with another goal in the fourth quarter.
Kelly McClure played between the pipes for the Hawks this afternoon, recording eight saves and seven ground balls.
The Hawks look to improve on today's game when they take on the Falcons of Notre Dame College (Ohio) at home next Monday.
