Hawks Shut Down by Bearcats on the Road

Lebanon, Ill. - The Quincy University women's soccer team started their final regular season weekend at McKendree on Friday evening. The Bearcats were strong on offense and took down the Hawks 4-0.

The Bearcats started off strong with a goal in the first quarter of play. Quincy worked to get forward after that with Ella Wolfard taking the first shot for the Hawks, forcing the Bearcats goalkeeper to make a save. The Hawks had two corner kick opportunities in this offensive surge, but neither one prospered. McKendree scored their second goal of the game at the 30-minute mark.

Quincy drew another corner kick early in the second half with Wolfard getting on the end of it, but she sent it off the frame. Quincy's offense stayed quiet for the rest of the match while the Bearcats scored two more goals. Julia Mincher took care of six shots from the Bearcats, having faced 24 total shots.

The Hawks are still in the mix for a possible berth to the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament. Currently tied for 8th place with Truman State and Upper Iowa, the Hawks will need both teams to lose or tie in their Sunday matchups and will need a win or tie over #8 Maryville to make it through.
