Quincy, Ill. - The Quincy women's soccer team went out with a bang on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 27) when they beat the Lincoln University Blue Tigers on senior day. The Hawks put up four goals, two from
Ella Wolfard and one each from
Lisa Albarran and
Daniella Segall, to round out their home slate for the 2024 season.
Play was dominated by the Hawks from the start. Wolfard proved dangerous on the right side early on, sending the Hawks' first shot just wide and giving the Hawks two opportunities on slotted balls, both saved by the Blue Tigers' keeper. Wolfard finally found the net on a banger to the opposite upper ninety.
Wolfard put the Hawks up another goal shortly after.
Emme Kirn sent the ball forward and Wolfard took the ball around the Blue Tigers' goalkeeper and from the endline, scored on a slow roller to the opposite post.
Lisa Albarran had a sweet senior day in scoring a goal in her last outing at Jack Mackenzie Field. Albarran sent the ball flying to the opposite corner on her goal. She nabbed an assist for
Daniella Segall, thredding the ball between two Blue Tigers and sending Segall on a breakaway with the goalkeeper. A touch around the keeper and shot to the back of the net gave Segall her third goal of the season.
Senior
Julia Mincher earned her final shutout at the Jack with three saves and a key save from senior Bella Arato off a corner kick.
The Hawks sit tied for 8th place with Truman State and Upper Iowa, but the Bulldogs would take the head to head battle over the Hawks in pursuit for the conference tournament. The Hawks will need at least one win next weekend for a chance at the conference tournament.
The Hawks celebrated seven seniors this afternoon in
Maddie Connors,
Julia Mincher,
Isabella Arato,
Megan Jette,
Meghan Cummings,
Emme Kirn, and
Lisa Albarran.
The Hawks will gear up for one final weekend in the regular season at McKendree and Maryville.
