Quincy, Ill. - The Quincy University women's soccer team competed against the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats on Friday evening (Oct. 11). A first half goal from the Bearcats sealed the game at a 1-0 loss for the Hawks.
The Hawks started strong, spending a lot of time in the Bearcats' half.
Ella Wolfard started the Hawks off with a strike just over the net. Senior
Lisa Albarran tallied two shots on goal in the first half, forcing the Bearcats' goalkeeper to make saves. Southwest Baptist got on the board late in the half off a corner kick.Â
The Hawks put a little more pressure on the Bearcats in the second half. Wolfard sent another missile toward net, this time just over the goalkeeper's head, forcing her to parry it into a crowded box which was shortly cleared by the defense. The Hawks outshot the Bearcats 14-6 with eight of those shots occurring in the second half.Â
Julia Mincher was the netminder for the Hawks in the contest and made four saves.Â
The Hawks return for a Hawk versus Hawk battle against Rockhurst University on Sunday, October 13th. Kickoff will be at noon.Â
