Hawks Leave Michigan 0-2

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 University Center, Mich. – The Quincy University women's soccer team traveled to Michigan for non-conference match-ups against Davenport University and Saginaw Valley State University. After a tough 5-0 loss to Davenport on Friday (Sept. 1), the Hawks were able to get two goals off the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley on Sunday (Sept. 3), losing 4-2.

Davenport
The Panthers started the contest hot with a break in the fifth minute to take the lead. Another chipped goal in 24th minute gave the Panthers a secure feeling going into the second half.

Davenport's speed up top proved troublesome for the Hawks in the second half with two breakaways turned goals. Davenport also produced 8 corner kicks in the half and found the net on the final corner kick of the game. Julia Mincher was in net for the Hawks and made three saves in the contest.

Saginaw Valley
The Hawks looked to bounce back after Friday's match and were successful in moments during Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Ella Wolfard slotted the ball near post for the Hawks' first goal of the season. Quincy was able to diffuse ten opportunities for Saginaw Valley before the Cardinals found the net twice in the first half. Not a minute after Saginaw Valley's second goal did junior transfer Lisa Albarran even the score with a rocket to the far post.

The second half faired sour for the Hawks as the Cardinals took the lead on a lofted ball from outside the 18-yard box. A penalty kick secured the game for Saginaw Valley sending Quincy home with an 0-2 record.

Mincher had a career high 11 saves against the Cardinals.

The Hawks look to add to their win column next weekend as they venture out to Kearney, Nebraska, to play University of Nebraska-Kearney and New Mexico Highlands University.
