Kirksville, Mo. - The Quincy University men's soccer team fell to the Truman State University Bulldogs Friday evening (Sept. 22) in a 2-1 defeat.
The men's contest began in a similar fashion to the women's game just hours prior with a Truman State goal in the 7th minute. Both teams fought for chances at net, but none prevailed for the rest of the half.
Just ten minutes into the second half, the Bulldogs found the net on a difficult-angled shot from the left side. Despite being down two goals, the Hawks worked forward for an opportunity to change the course of the game. Quincy found that moment in the 64th minute when senior
Alex Lehmann buried a penalty kick, pushing the scoreline to 2-1. Lehmann's goal sparked a bit more fight in the Hawks for the last 25 minutes of play, but unfortunately, they could not convert any of the late opportunities into a goal.
George Roke got his 7th start of the season in goal and tallied two saves.
Quincy will finish its weekend at Upper Iowa University on Sunday, September 24th. The Hawks have met the Peacocks 5 times, taking the series 3-2.
