Hawks Soar over Miners

Quincy, Ill. - The Quincy University men's soccer program continued success from last Saturday and won its first conference match against Missouri S&T Friday (Sept. 15), 3-0. Two Hawks got their first goal of the season while Rennato Ramos was a key factor in each goal.

The men's program continued where the women's left off in a highly competitive, quite physical match against the Miners. The Hawks found their first goal of the evening when Ramos found Tommy Barrell in the box and Barrell sent the ball straight to the back corner of the net. The Miners responded with intensity and sent more numbers forward, but were shut down by goalkeeper George Roke and his defense.

The second half brought two more goals for the Hawks, one each from Marcel Kaspar and Stan Cargill. Kaspar's goal came shortly after half when Ramos found Kaspar on a run across the box and Kaspar sent it rolling into the back corner. Cargill didn't waste much time after's Kaspar's goal when he was able to send a loose ball in the box over the Miners goalkeeper's head. This was the third game this season the Hawks scored at least 3 goals.

The Hawks look to continue their success on the field against #7 Maryville University on Sunday, September 17th at 2:30pm.
