Quincy, Ill. – The Quincy University men's soccer team hosted the #7 Maryville University Saints on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 17). The nationally ranked Saints took the game 4-0.
 
The Hawks kept the stellar Saints off the scoreboard until halfway through the first half. Prior to Tim Smith's goal, the Saints had four straight corner kicks without success. Despite the 13 corner kicks given to Maryville, the Hawks defended well within their box and did not concede a goal off a corner kick.
 
Though the Saints brought a crafty squad to Jack Mackenzie Field, Quincy fought for every ball and did not surrender to the Saints once. George Roke had two phenomenal saves in the latter quarter of the game to maintain the scoresheet at 4-0. Roke had 4 saves in the contest overall.
 
The Hawks look to bounce back next week when they take the trip down Highway 6 to Truman State University for a game under the lights (7 pm).
