Hawks Finish the Season Defeated by Greyhounds

Quincy, Ill. – The Quincy University men's lacrosse team took on No.8 University of Indianapolis Saturday (Apr. 29) The Hawks dropped their final contest of the year 18-4.

The Greyhounds started the game quick with five goals in the first quarter while shutting out the Hawks' six shots. Quincy finally got on the board from a quick restart behind the goal, giving Donald Griffith his only goal of the game.

Griffith then helped teammate Nick Woodworth find the back of the net off of a blazing shot in the third quarter. Sophomore Caidyn Prediger got his 11th goal of the season off a quick pass from Jayme Brain in the fourth quarter. Christian Czarny finished the Hawks' tallies with six minutes left in the fourth quarter after picking up a rebound off Austin Vetter's initial shot.

Donald Griffith and Jordan Ernst scored the most goals this season with 39 each. Junior Jayme Brain led the team with total points with 52 and reached his 100th career point against Davenport. Mason Marano led the team in ground balls and assisted with the most goals (26). Ryan Riggs was standout in goal this season with 247 saves in seventeen games. His .546 save percentage puts him 23rd in the nation and his 14.07 saves per game average puts him 15th in the country.

The Hawks finished their season 8-10 with a .500 at-home record. The 2023 team had the best record in program history and looks to build on this year's success with six of the ten seniors coming back for their 5th year next spring.
