ST. LOUIS, MO.- The Quincy University Softball team traveled down to St Louis to play a doubleheader against GLVC foe University of Missouri St Louis. The Hawks would lose both games by a score of 6-1 and 8-2.
Game One
The Hawks would get the lead off hitter on to start the game on a walk but would leave her stranded at third. UMSL would strike first in the bottom of the first as they took an early 2-0 lead. After a few quiet innings for both teams UMSL would put up a four spot in the bottom of the fourth inning to open the game up 6-0.
QU would get their first hit of the game on a Bailey Mitchell double in the top of the fifth inning. Jayle Jennings would start off the top of the seventh inning off with a bomb over the left field wall to cut the deficit to 6-1, but the Hawks would not score again and lose the first game.

Game Two
UMSL would score first once again to start the second game, and take an early 2-0 lead in the first. Ashley Gerber would hit a double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Hawks in the hit column, but would get stranded at second.
After the Tritons scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to 6-0, Bailey Mitchell would start the top of the fifth inning with a bang, leaving the yard and giving the Hawks their first run of the game.
Jayle Jennings would hit her second home run of the day in the top of the seventh and cut the Hawks deficit down to 8-2, as QU tried to make a comeback, but they couldn't keep the momentum and lost the second game 8-2.
The Hawks will be back in action on Saturday (March 25th) for a GLVC doubleheader against McKendree University. First pitch set for 12:00 pm.
