QUINCY, Ill.- The Quincy University men's Volleyball team hosted the Lindenwood University Lions on Thursday (March 2nd) in Pepsi Arena. The Hawks put up a good fight but end up losing a close one (25-21), (25-18), (34-32).
1st set
Quincy got the first three points of the match thanks to a kill by AJ Goedheer and an Ace by Keegan Carey. The Hawks and the Lions would keep going back and forth throughout the set, but a late run by the Lions would give them the set 25-21. Raje Alleyne would lead QU with three kills in the first set.
2nd set
After being down 3-0 early on in the set Quincy would fight back to cut the deficit to only 1 several times throughout the second set but could never fully catch up and take the lead. The Hawks would only commit 4 errors throughout the set, the least amount all game. Lindenwood would win the second set 25-18.
3rd set
The Hawks would not go down without a fight as the biggest lead in the whole third set was a 3-point lead. QU would have a 0.417 hitting percentage, the highest of the game. AJ Goedheer would have 8 kills in the third set for the Hawks. Quincy would have a chance to win the set 5 times in this last set but could not find the final point. The Hawks would lose 34-32.
Quincy University will be back in action on Monday March 6th when they host Cornerstone University in Pepsi Arena for a 5:00 p.m start.
