Hawks Remain Hot Despite Freezing Weather

QUINCY, Ill.- Despite the freezing weather the Hawks remained hot and finished off the sweep against Augustana University on Saturday (March 11th) winning 10-0. 

After a quiet first two innings the Quincy bats came alive in the bottom of the third, Gino D'Alessio would have an RBI groundout followed by an RBI single from Dustin Dupont would give QU an early 2-0 lead. 

The Hawks bats would remain hot in the bottom half of the fourth inning as they would score four more runs off a bases loaded walk from Zach Parks and a two RBI single from Gino D'Alessio extending the lead to 5-0. 

Luke Napleton would once again start the bottom of the fifth inning with a bang adding to the Quincy lead making it 6-0. Zach Parks would hit one out of the park in the sixth inning for a two-run home run making it 8-0 Hawks. 

QU would score two more runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning. Luke Napleton was not done yet as he hit yet another home run making it his fifth in 2 days. Zach Parks would later earn another base loaded walk to give the Hawks a walk-off run rule win in this one 10-0. 

Quincy's pitching was phenomenal in this game allowing zero runs on only 3 hits. Kobe Essien would go 3.1 innings striking out 6, Roman Harrison would follow that up with 1.2 innings striking out 2. Carter Endisch would pitch a hitless inning while also striking out one. Chase Gockel would pitch what would be the final inning and he would strike out the side. 

The Hawks will be back in action on Friday (March 17th) as they start GLVC play hosting the Missouri S&T Miners. First pitch is set at 3:00 p.m.
