QUINCY, Ill.- The Quincy University Men's Baseball team started off their 3 game series against Augustana University on Friday (March 10th). The Hawks won the first two games of the series today both by the score of 7-2.

Game One

QU scored first in the game when Luke Napleton hit a two-run bomb to left field giving QU the 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third. 

The Hawks would strike once again in the bottom of the fifth inning when Nolan Wosman hit a home run to right center. Joe Huffman would later score on an error and extend the Hawks lead to 4-0.

Quincy would score 2 more in the bottom half of the 6th when Luke Napleton hit a 2 RBI single to left field. Luke Napleton would hit his second home run of the game in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Hawks a 7-2 lead. 

Spencer Walker would improve to 3-0 on the year going 7 strong innings allowing 0 runs and striking out 2.

Game Two

The Hawks offense would stay hot heading into the second game of the day as they would score two runs in the bottom half of the first inning on a Lance Logsdon and Nolan Wosman RBI single to give them an early 2-0 lead. 

After a couple quiet innings Luke Napleton would hit a home run to right center field, his third of the day, to extend the QU lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth. 

Austin Simpson would start off the bottom of the sixth with a bang as he hit a home run to right center field extending the Hawks lead to 4-0. 

QU would score two more runs in the bottom of the seventh when Lance Logsdon would leave the park with a two-run home run to left center field adding to the Hawks lead making it 6-0. Gino D'Alessio would single through the right side in the bottom of the eighth bringing in Seth West making the QU lead 7-0. 

Griffin Kirn would pitch 5 scoreless innings, racking up six strikeouts. Jay Hammel would come in relief and pitch 2 scoreless, striking out four. Elijah Ecton would pitch the final 2 innings for the Hawks, striking out two in the process.

The Hawks will look to go for their 2nd consecutive sweep tomorrow morning, Saturday (March 11th) with first pitch scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
