Quincy Sweeps the Day at the Blue Bridge Battle

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Quincy University softball team went 2-0 on the day in the Blue Bridge Battle on Saturday (Feb 25). Great pitching led the way on Saturday as the Hawks did not let in a run in either games winning, 3-0 and 1-0.

Game 1 vs Notre Dame College (Ohio)

Jayle Jennings pitched a complete game shutout for the Hawks as she went innings only allowing 3 hits while striking out 4 and walking 0.

Offensively Quincy was led by Casey Brennan who went 3-3 with 3 RBI's. The scoring started in the top of the fourth when Casey Brennan singled and drove in Allison Kaiser to give QU the 1-0 lead. Casey Brennan would double in the top of the 6th inning and driving in two more runs and extending the lead to 3-0.

Game 2 vs Kentucky Wesleyan College

In the second game of the day Brooklynn Fischer would take the mound. Fischer would pitch all seven innings without allowing a single run. She would also finish with 7 strikeouts and 0 walks.

The Hawks would have only 1 hit throughout the game but this 1 hit would be enough to secure the win. Taylor Downen would hit a sacrifice fly to the second basemen in the bottom of the first inning to bring in Casey Brennan and give the Hawks their only run of the game, which would be enough to win the game 1-0.

Quincy University will be back in action on Sunday February 26th for another double header against Davis & Elkins College and Northwood University at the Blue Bridge Battle.
