LEBANON, Ill.- The Quincy University Men's Volleyball team were on the road on Friday (Feb 17th) for a match against the McKendree University Bearcats. The Hawks put up a good fight but lost in straight sets (25-23), (25-19), (25-23).
It was a back and forth first set, as neither team could go on a big run. But a kill by Roman Deryckere gave the Hawks a 23-21 lead. But a late run by the Bearcats would let them win the first set 25-23.
McKendree took the first two points in the second set and never looked back. Quincy went on several runs led by Raje Alleyne who had 5 kills in the set, but it wasn't enough as the Bearcats would win the set 25-19.
The Hawks would get back-to-back kills by AJ Goedheer to give them a 4-2 lead early in the third set. AJ Goedheer would have 7 kills in the third set of this game, but a late run by McKendree would win them the set 25-23.
Quincy University will be back in action on Friday (Feb 24) to host the Ohio State Buckeyes at 7:00 p.m. in Pepsi Arena.
