WINTER PARK, Fla.- The Quincy University Men's Baseball team opened up a three game series against the Rollins College Tars on Thursday (Feb 16th). The Hawks slugged five home runs in the series opener, winning 11-7.
The Hawks got the scoring going in the second inning, when Nolan Wosman blasted a home run to left field giving Quincy a 1-0 lead.
After a 1-out walk to Nolan Wosman in the top of the forth, Brock Boynton left the yard for a two-run home run extending the lead to 3-0. The Tars responded with a home run of themselves in the bottom half of the inning cutting the Hawks lead down to 3-1.
QU would respond right back in the top of the fifth inning, blasting not only one but three home runs back-to-back-to-back by Luke Napleton, Austin Simpson, and Nolan Wosman (his second of the game), extending the lead to 7-1.
A 2 RBI single by Zach Parks in the top of the seventh inning would extend the Hawks lead to 10-4. The Tars would score another three runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to cut the Quincy lead to only 10-7. Gino D'Alessio would give QU an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning with an RBI single to center field.
Elijah Ecton would get a strike out and two fly outs to right field to close out the game as the Hawks win 11-7.
Spencer Walker would get the win with 5.1 IP, striking out four batters while giving up eight hits and four earned runs.
