Davenport, Iowa - The Quincy University swimming program traveled to St. Ambrose University on Friday evening (Oct. 20) to dip their feet in prior to their conference tri-meet on Saturday (Oct. 21). Despite many improvements and first place finishes, both teams lost, the men 115-102 and the women 128-81. 

In addition to twelve first place finishes, many swimmers came close to stamping their names into the Quincy record books. The Men's 200 freestyle featuring Santiago Leiva, Wyatt Walsh, Martiniano Montero, and Borna Kisasondi came within two seconds of the current record. Leiva also came dangerously close to Kisasondi's current 50 free record, just .53 seconds behind. 

The women lost key points in the 200 yard backstroke, 200 breaststroke, and 200 yard freestyle relay, having placed third in each event. Both teams lost points on the diving portion of the swim meet due to lack of participation. 

The swimmers of the meet were Lillian Dempewolf and Victor Abram. 

Coach Christiansen's Thoughts: 
"We had an outstanding meet, with huge leaps forward from close to everyone. Our women won a ton of events, led by 1-2-3 in the 400 IM. Our men traded blows really evenly and by a margin of hundreths we would have had a different outcome."
