Hawks Head Home with Two Weekend Wins

Liberty, Mo. - The Quincy University men's soccer team changed the season's fate this weekend with two road wins, jumping from 12th place in the GLVC standings to 8th, putting them in the running for the conference tournament with two weekends of games to go. The Hawks beat William Jewell in the final minutes of the game, 2-1.

Both the Hawks and Cardinals battled the first half to a scoreless tie. Just over fifteen minutes into the second half, William Jewell got the first break with a goal off a low cross. Two rounds of subs passed before Ben Scotford got the Hawks on the board after sophomore Tommy Barrel played a deep cross into Stan Cargill's head. Scotford finished Cargill's header off into the goal, tying the game at one.

The Hawks added more grit to the mix in the final three minutes of play with a goal from freshman Josh Nswosu off of Lewis Chapman's corner kick. The Hawks stormed the freshman as his first goal as a Hawk was crucial to the road win.

The Hawks sit eighth in conference standings with four games to go, 3 of the 4 being against top-8 teams. The Hawks first face McKendree in their final home weekend of the year on Friday, October 20th.
