HAMMOND, Ind. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team rounded out its trip to the Midwest Region Crossover on Saturday (Oct. 14) with a win over the Chargers of Hillsdale College. The Hawks defeated GMAC foe, Hillsdale, in three sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-19).
Set One:
QU slept out to a commanding 8-1 advantage to open the frame. Kills from

HC worked its way back into the set, cutting the deficit to a single point at 17-16 near the midpoint of the set. Quincy responded by taking the next three points to press the advantage back to four at 20-16 and continued to push through the finish line, closing out a 25-20 win in the first set with a
Susanna Beretti kill.
Set Two:
The Hawks clung to a narrow advantage in the early going until the Chargers took back-to-back points to claim their only lead of the set at 9-8. QU promptly responded with a three-point run of its own to reclaim the lead 11-9.
Hillsdale continued to hang around until the 15-14 mark, where Quincy took five of the next six points to press the advantage to five at 20-15 heading down the stretch. Both sides split the final 10 points of the set, 5 a piece, to give QU another 25-20 victory in the second set.
Set Three:
The Hawks opened the first sizable lead of the third frame with a three-point run on kills from Wijnbergen and
Brianna Merkel, along with an HC error to move ahead 7-4. The Chargers kept within striking distance for the majority of the frame, until Quincy found an opening at 18-18.
The Hawks continued their hot play down the stretch, taking seven of the final eight points, capped off by a kill from Beretti, to give QU a 25-19 winner in the third set and 3-0 victory in the match.
With the win, Quincy continues its historic winning streak, pressing the number to 16 matches in a row. Each victory adds to a new record for the program, besting the previous win streak of 14 matches set by the 2022 squad.
