Biography
2024 (Sophomore): For the second straight season, Matzke appeared and started in all 31 games for the Hawks, where she totaled 118 sets played. Erin led the team with 88 total blocks (0.75 B/S) and also had 147 kills (1.25 K/S) for a total of 207.5 points (1.76 P/S). She had a season-high 12 kills against Indianapolis (11/16/24) and had seven total blocks for the third time in her career in a four-set win over Drury (10/26/24).

2023 (Freshman): In her first season with the Hawks, Erin appeared and started in all 30 matches, totaling 114 sets, where she had 148 kills (1.30 K/S), 27 digs, and was second on the team with 95 total blocks (0.83 B/S). She made her collegiate debut against Tiffin (9/1/23), where she had four kills and five total blocks. She had a season-high 15 kills against Lewis (11/11/23) and had seven total blocks twice throughout the season.

Personal: Erin Matzke, from Olathe, Kansas, is a proud graduate of Olathe North High School, where she excelled both academically and athletically as a member of the Eagles community. The daughter of Laura and Jeff Matzke, Erin comes from a family rooted in athletics—her father, Jeff, played football at Nebraska Wesleyan, while her mother, Laura, competed in soccer for the same university. Erin’s also has two siblings, Megan and Scott.
Erin pursued a rigorous academic path, participating in numerous honor societies and extracurriculars. She was a four-year Academic Letter Winner and a member of the National Honors Society, the National English Honors Society (where she served as the Officer of Marketing), and the National Sports Medicine Honors Society. She also spent four years in the Olathe North Sports Medicine and Exercise Science Academy and served as a Student Aide for athletic training, supporting basketball, wrestling, and girls' soccer. Her dedication earned her the 2023 Olathe North Excellence in Sports Medicine Award, recognizing her as one of the top three students in her class.
On the court, Erin was a key player for the Olathe North Volleyball team, earning Honorable Mention All-Sunflower League honors in 2021 and being named to the 2nd Team All-Sunflower League in 2022. In addition to sports and academics, Erin was a committed member of the Olathe North Marching Band, earning letters in all four years of participation.
In her free time, Erin enjoys playing trumpet, softball, and disc golf. She looks up to athletes like Lauren Stivrins, Mikaela Foecke, and Dana Rettke, and she proudly supports Nebraska Volleyball and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Why QU?
I chose Quincy because of the great volleyball and academic programs. After learning more and more about QU on a visit, it felt like the right place for me.
