Kansas City, Mo. - A battle of the Hawks, the Quincy University women's soccer team traveled to Rockhurst University on Friday (Oct. 13). Despite the best play from the Hawks this season, Rockhurst got away with a 3-1 victory.
Energy was high for the Quincy Hawks going into the game. Rockhurst struck fast with a goal in the first 10 minutes of play. Off a throw-in, the Rockhurst Hawks managed to cross the 6-yard box on the dribble and pass it to the back post for a tap-in goal. Another throw-in catalysted the Rockhurst Hawks' second goal, putting it just under the crossbar from outside the 18-yard box.
The Quincy Hawks finally got on the board in the final minute of the first half when
Tatum Brookhart laced up a free kick into the Rockhurst box. A failed clearance from the Rockhurst Hawks led to
Ella Wolfard smashing it into the opposite upper 90.
Not long into the second half did the Rockhurst Hawks seal the deal with another tap-in goal just in front of goal. Quincy held Rockhurst to the lone goal in the second half, despite facing 15 shots.
The Hawks will face William Jewell on Sunday in Liberty, Missouri.
