Quincy Tops Rockhurst 3-2

Kansas City, Mo. - The Quincy University men's soccer program faced the Rockhurst University Hawks on Friday evening (Oct. 13). After a calm, tied first half, the Hawks fought hard in the second half to overtake the Rockhurst Hawks 3-2.

Alex Lehmann got the scoring train started early by serving Rennato Ramos from a free kick, putting the Hawks up one in the first half. The Rockhurst Hawks responded later in the first half with a goal off a cross.

The goal from Rockhurst gave them confidence, and they came out hot in the second half, putting another goal on the scoreboard just 14 minutes in.

The Quincy Hawks pushed shortly after with Paal Vistnes tapping in a free kick three minutes later to tie up the game. Vistnes found himself in a pickle ten minutes later, receiving a second yellow in the game, sending him off the pitch. Despite the Hawks playing down a man for the rest of the game, Quincy native Carter Venvertloh was able to capitalize on a rebound and sealed the deal for the Quincy Hawks.

The Hawks went seven games without a win, making this win over Rockhurst much sweeter. The Hawks look to continue the trend at William Jewell on Sunday.
