Quincy, Ill. – The Quincy University Baseball opened up their finale regular season series on Friday (5/6) afternoon against the Missouri S&T Miners at QU Stadium. The Hawks offense came alive as they won 11-1 in 7 innings.
The Miners struck first in this one as Doug Wood singled through the right side to score Dakota Sill. In the bottom of the 1
st, it took two pitches for the Hawks to tie the game as
Luke Napleton hit his 16
th home run of the season to center field. Napleton is now tied for 3
rd for single season home run with Kevin Sewell (2004).
The Hawks added 4 more runs in the 2
nd as
Brock Boynton reach on an error by the first baseman that scored
Zach Parks. Napleton singled to right field that would score
Adam Lewis and Boynton.
Gino D'Alessio finished off the inning with an RBI single to center field that scored Napleton.
In the 5
th inning,
Joe Roscetti singled to right field that brought home Lewis to make it 6-1 Hawks. The game moved to the bottom of the 6
th, as
Sebastian Martinez and Napleton reached base,
Dayson Croes singled to left field that made it 7-1. D'Alessio kept the line moving as he singled to left field that scored Napleton.
Nolan Wosman hit a sac fly to center field to make it 9-1 Quincy. Lewis drew a bases loaded walk that brought home D'Alessio. Martinez rounded out the offense with a single to right field that scored Logsdon.
The reigning GLVC Pitcher of the Week,
Spencer Walker improved to 8-1 on the season with his 2
nd complete game in as many weeks. He struck out 8 Miners, allowing 1 run on 3 hits.
