Bolivar, Mo. - The Quincy University Softball team took the road to play Southwest Baptist University to end the regular season Sunday (May 1). The Hawks took game one as they scored the only run of the game in extra innings and scored eight runs in game two to win the two game series to the Bearcats.
Game 1Â
The game moved slowly as none of the sides could score for the first seven innings of the game. The Hawks left runners on base on various occasions unable to score.
It was not until the eighth inning when the Hawks put things together as Allison Kaiser opened up the inning with a single and was followed by Taylor Downen who reached first base on an error by the Bearcat's center field to put runners in first and second. With one out, Bailey Mitchell recorded a single to right field allowing Kaiser to score for the first run of the game.Â
Bailee Highbarger threw a complete game for the Hawks without allowing a single run to give Quincy a 1-0 win.

Game 2
The Hawks scored in the top of the first inning after Jayle Jennings led off with a walk and moved to third with a double to left-center field from Kaiser. Downen followed with a sacrifice fly ball to left field to bring the first run for Quincy, 1-0.
Quincy scored once again in the top of the third inning when Allyson Maynard singled up the middle to bring Kaiser to the plate for Quincy's second run, 2-0. The Bearcats scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the third to make it 2-1.
In the top of the fifth, Kaiser hit a double that put runners in scoring position as Jennings walked to lead off the inning. Downen then hit a rocket to left field for a home run to make it 5-1. Bailey reached base on a single down the left field line and scored on a home run by Casey Brennan over the left field wall, 7-1. With two outs, Audrey Hermann and Ashley Poore both singled putting Hermann in scoring position. Jennings doubled to bring the eighth and last run for the Hawks to make it 8-1.
Jennings threw a complete game allowing only one run in seven innings to give Quincy a 8-1.
