Romeoville, Ill – The Quincy University Baseball team opened their GLVC series against the Lewis Flyers on Friday (4/8) afternoon and fell by the score of 8-7.
The Flyers opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1
st with 3 runs, all unearned due to an error by
Gino D'Alessio.
Joe Roscetti singled to center field which scored
Nolan Wosman in the top of the 2
nd to make it 3-1 Flyers.
In the top of the 4
th,
Luke Napleton had a productive out as Wosman scored his second run of the game to make it 3-2. Lewis extended their lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the inning on a sac fly and two hits. Hawks starting pitcher
Spencer Walker would last 4 innings, giving up 7 runs (4 of them earned). He also struck out 7 Flyer hitters.
As the game moved to the 6
th inning, Wosman hit his first home run of the game and 4
th of the season, which also scored
Lance Logsdon to make it 7-4. Then in the top of the 8
th, Wosman added his second home run of the contest, this time of the solo variety to make it 7-5. The Hawks got to within 7-6 thanks to a throwing error by the Lewis pitcher, which scored
Brock Boynton. In the bottom half of the inning, Lewis added a run to make it 8-6.
In the top of the 9
th, the Hawks were down to their final out with the bases loaded. Wosman scored on a wild pitch to make it 8-7.
