Hawks Sweep Truman State in Saturday Doubleheader

Kirksville, Mo. – The Quincy University Baseball team continued their road series in Kirksville today with a doubleheader against the Truman State Bulldogs. The Hawks swept the doubleheader by the scores of 6-1 and 10-0.

GAME 1
Gino D'Alessio got the Hawks on the board in the top of the 1st inning while reaching on an error by the shortstop, which scored Luke Napleton. Nolan Wosman than doubled to left center which would score Dayson Croes to make it 2-0 Hawks. The Hawks scratched one more run across on a Sebastian Martinez ground out to the 2nd baseman which scored D'Alessio.

Brock Boynton extended the lead to 4-0 while reaching on a fielder's choice that scored Zach Parks in the top of the 4th. In the bottom half of the inning, the Bulldogs got on the board thanks to a balk. Croes gave the Hawks some insurance runs in the top of the 6th on a single through the right side that scored Boynton and Martinez to make it 6-1.

Jay Hammel got the call in game 1 for the Hawks. He struck out 6, scattered 4 hits, only allowing one run.

GAME 2
In the nightcap of the doubleheader, the Hawk bats stayed hot. Lance Logsdon got the scoring started with an RBI single that scored Croes. In the top of the 2nd, Napleton reached on an error by the pitcher, which scored Joe Roscetti. The next batter was Croes who singled through the right side to score Napleton and Boynton to make it 4-0 Hawks.

Brock Boynton kept the offense moving with an RBI single of his own that scored Wosman to make it 5-0. With one out and one on in the top of the 4th, Wosman deposited the ball over the left center field wall that made it 7-0. Roscetti got in on the offensive act with a single to right center to score Parks in the 6th. The Hawks finished off the day with a Croes double to right center that scored Napleton. Then, Wosman singled to the 3rd baseman that scored Croes to make it 10-0.

Griffin Kirn got the start in game 2 and went the full 7 innings. He struck out 7 Bulldogs, only walking 2 and scattered 6 hits.
