Kirksville, Mo. – The Quincy University Baseball team opened its final GLVC road series on Friday (4/22) against the Truman State Bulldogs and fell by the score of 5-4.
In the top of the 1
st,
Luke Napleton led off the game with reaching base on an errant throw by the 3
rd baseman. Two batters later,
Gino D'Alessio took the pitch to right field for the 2-run home run. The score would stay that way until the 4
th inning, when
Tyler Carpenter deposited the ball over the right field fence as well for a solo home run to make it 3-0 Hawks. The Bulldogs got on the board in the bottom of the 4
th to make it 3-1.
Truman State made it a one run game in the bottom of the 5
th on an RBI single up the middle. The Bulldogs would tie the contest on a one out single with 2 runners on. Then with the bases loaded, they would hit a sac fly to right field to take the lead at 4-3.
Dayson Croes tied the game in the top of the 9
th with an RBI single that score
Brock Boynton. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs would win the game with a walk-off double to right field.
