Romeoville, Ill – The Quincy University Baseball team took the series finale at Lewis University on Sunday (4/10) in convincing fashion by the score of 18-4 (F/7).
The Hawks started the game with three free passes to load the bases, which brought up
Nolan Wosman. Wosman took the 0-2 pitch over the left field wall for a grand slam. From there, the Hawks never looked back as
Brock Boynton doubled to left center to score
Zach Parks. The next batter in
Sebastian Martinez grounded out to the 2
nd baseman, but it scored Boynton to make it 6-0.
In the top of the 2
nd,
Luke Napleton singled down the left field line to score
Gino D'Alessio which made it 7-0 Quincy.
After the Flyers struck for 3 runs in the bottom of the 3
rd, the Hawks added to their lead in the top of the 4
th. The three of the four runs in the inning were scored thanks to walks and a hit by pitch with the bases loaded. Martinez hit a sac fly to left field to score Parks which made the game 11-3.
In the top of the 5
th, the Hawks sent 10 batters to the plate, which resulted in 6 runs on 4 hits. Parks hit a 2-run single to left field to make it 13-3. Two batters later, Boynton singled to center field to score Parks which made it 14-3.
Joe Roscetti added to the offense with a double to left center that scored Martinez and Boynton. In the top of the 6
th, the Hawks added their 18
th run of the game on a
Zach Parks RBI single to left field.
