Hawks take series finale behind strong pitching

Jefferson City, TN—The Hawks wrapped up their 4-game road trip against the Carson-Newman Eagles on Sunday afternoon (March 6th) and won 4-0 to take the series.

In the top of the 1st, after Brock Boynton was hit by a pitch, Lance Logsdon doubled to centerfield to give Quincy a 1-0 lead. The Hawk pitching was stellar throughout the game as starter Jay Hammel kept the Eagles at bay all game.

As the top of the 4th started, Quincy would score 2 runs on only one hit. They took advantage of some miscues by the Eagle defense. Gino D'Alessio came around to score on a balk. The next batter up was Luke Napleton, who hit a sac fly to centerfield scoring Austin Simpson to make it 3-0 Hawks.

D'Alessio added another run with his homerun down the leftfield line in the top of the 8th.

Hammel went 6 innings, striking out 4, only allowed 4 hits and no walks. Sam Stephens and Alex Pribyl finished the game off out of the bullpen.
