SAINT LOUIS, MO---The Quincy University baseball team split its doubleheader at Maryville on Sunday (March 13).
Game 1
The Hawks took a 5-0 lead in the top of the second when
Dayson Croes hit a two run home run to right center field. Maryville tied the game at 6-6 in the bottom of the fifth after their five run inning highlighted by a three run home run. The Hawks took an 8-6 lead in the eighth after
Joe Roscetti hit a two RBI triple to right center. The Saints scored a run in the bottom frame of the eighth but
Sam Stephens earned the save  as he worked the final two innings of the game.Â
Game 2
The Saints jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first and led 5-0 before Quincy tailed a run in the top of the fourth to make it 5-1. The Saints extended their lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the fourth, and the Hawks scored two runs the next half inning to make it 6-3.
Brock Boynton hit an RBI triple and then scored on a Croes single to make the score 6-5 in the top of the sixth. The Hawks were held scoreless in the seventh and final frame and fell short by one run for the third time this season.Â
