Jefferson City, TN—The Hawks continued their series against the Carson-Newman Eagles on Saturday afternoon (March 5
th) and split the doubleheader. Quincy took game 1 with a score of 14-3, while the Eagles earned the split with a 9-3 win in game 2.
GAME 1
After the Eagles took a 2-0 lead in their half of the 1
st inning, the Hawks' bats woke up. They would send 10 batters to the plate. The offense started with a 2 RBI double to left field by
Luke Napleton which scored
Gino D'Alessio and
Lance Logsdon.
Joe Roscetti would come up with the bases load and take the 1
st pitch he saw over the center field wall for a grand slam to give the Hawks a 6-2 lead.
In the top of the 3
rd, the bats continued where they left off in the 2
nd.
Austin Simpson took a 1-0 pitch to centerfield to make it 7-2 Hawks. After the Eagles issued a walk, Napleton homered down the left field line to make it 9-2 in favor of Quincy.
During the top of the 4
th, Quincy would bat around once more this time adding 5 runs to their offensive production. The bases would be full of Hawks as
Tanner Dreher singled to score Logsdon. The very next batter, Napleton knocked his 2
nd home run of the game, this time a grand slam to make it 14-3 Hawks.
Quincy native
Griffin Kirn got the start on the mound and went 7 innings, striking out 7 Eagles, allowing just 1 walk. He improved his record to 2-0.

GAME 2
The Hawks would have to work from behind in the nightcap of the doubleheader as the Eagles scored runs in the 2
nd and 3
rd innings. Quincy would get on the board with back-to-back solo home runs by
Dayson Croes and
Nolan Wosman to make tie it at 2.
Carson Newman would retake the 2-run lead on a home run and an RBI single as they would send 8 batters to the plat in the bottom of the 4
th. The last of the Hawk offense came as Croes scored on a wild pitch.
The Eagles would take game 2 by the score of 9 to 3.
