Quincy, Ill.—The Quincy University Men's Volleyball team welcomed the Ohio State University Buckeyes into Pepsi Arena on Saturday evening (3/27) and lost in straight sets (25-17, 27-25, 25-20).
SET 1
The Hawks and Buckeyes traded points in the early part of the opening set. Ohio State took the lead at 3-2 and never looked back the rest of the set. Their lead would grow to as big as seven points at 20-13 and 21-14. OSU would only commit two errors and hit at an impressive 0.522% with 14 kills.
SET 2
Ohio State controlled the middle set from the first serve. They kept as many as a 5-point margin through the set. Quincy kept fighting back and eventually took a 22-21 lead late in the set. That lead did not last long as OSU tied it up. The two teams went back and forth, but OSU would come out on top by the score of 27-25. Ohio State kept their high attack percentage with a mark of 0.500. The Hawks registered 10 kills on 16 attempts for a percentage of .375.
SET 3
The Hawks looked to gain some offensive traction in the early part of the third set as they held a 6-5 lead. From that point, OSU would go on 5-2 run to give them the 10-7 lead. Quincy tried to keep climbing back, but the Buckeye offense was too much for the Hawks. The Buckeyes would go onto win set 3 by the score of 25-20.
