Softball earns first conference win in split with Mckendree

Lebanon, Ill.—The Quincy University softball team continued GLVC play with a doubleheader at Mckendree University and split the games. The Hawks won game 1 by the score of 7-2 and lost game 2 by the score of 5-0.

GAME 1
Olivia Stansbury got the Bearcats on the board first in the bottom of the 1st with an RBI double to right center. Skyler Davis would make it 2-0 Mckendree in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single to left field.

The Hawks' bats woke up in the top of the 6th as Allyson Maynard hit a 3-run home run to right field to give Quincy the 3-2 lead. Then just two batters later, Bailey Mitchell hit solo blast to left field to extend the lead to 4-2.

The offense remained hot in the top of the seventh. Jayle Jennings doubled to left center that scored Mykuh Hurley. The next batter Taylor Downen doubled as well to bring Jennings around to score. Bailey Mitchell rounded out the scoring with a sac fly to center field to score Downen.

GAME 2
During the bottom of the 1st, Olivia Stansbury hit a home run to center field to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead. The score would stay like that until the 3rd inning when Skyler Davis singled up the middle to make it 2-0.

Mckendree would add 3 more runs in the bottom of the 4th. Heaven Lawrence singled which would score a run. Then Stansbury doubled to left center that would score 2 runs to make it 5-0.
