Orlando, FL - The Quincy University tennis program traveled to Orlando, FL to play Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Monday (Mar. 14). The Hawks men's tennis team got swept, and the women's team fell 6-1.
The women's team won the first singles match, as Laila Leist-Alston got a big three sets win. The first set was a very competitive game that led to a tiebreaker with a score of 7-6 in Leist-Alston's favor. Laila then took over the tiebreaker 7-4. Leist-Alston dropped the second set by a 6-4 score but responded with a strong 10-5 win on the third set to give the Hawks the first and only match of the singles and the game.
During the doubles, Steffi Lao and Juliana Vidal tagged along and fought hard for a 7-6 tie but ended up losing 7-4 in the tiebreaker. Also Katrin Ismailova and Paula Martinez joined forces and stretched the match to a tie but their efforts came up short as well losing 7-4 on the tiebreaker.
The men's team was not able to take a match over the Spartans but Samuele Contestabile and Erik Weiler had a very close chance as both forced a tiebreaker. Contestabile and Weiler both took their singles matches to a 7-6 tie but both came out short, losing the tiebreaker 7-4.Â

The Hawks will continue actions in Orlando, FL and will be facing Florida Southern College, Tuesday (Mar. 15).Â
