The Quincy University men's volleyball game fell 3-2 to Grand View University at Pepsi Arena on Friday (February 4) night.

1st Set

The Hawks shed first blood, and it was an ill omen for the rest of the set. Despite some messy play from the Vikings, QU was ultimately outscored and lost set one 22-25.

2nd Set

Set two was more eventful for the Hawks, coming out of the gate with two points via an attack error and a kill from Niall Burton. It was fairly smooth sailing from there, with QU outscoring the Vikings and riding some more messy play from the opposition to a 25-20 set victory.

3rd Set

The middle set of the game was heated and high-energy, with the Hawks managing to get the win through even more messy play by the Vikings, despite being out-killed otherwise. The final score was 33-31 Hawks, giving them a 2-1 lead heading into the next set.

4th Set

The penultimate set was where things really started to fall apart for QU. The Hawks fell behind quickly on two attack errors, and that sloppy play proved to be their downfall, resulting in the set being lost 16-25.

5th Set

The Hawks tightened up their play in the final set, but ultimately, they were unable to score the points to make up for it, getting out-killed 5-9 and leading to a 12-15 loss for the set, cementing their 2-3 loss in the match.

Nathan Lawton led the Hawks with 14.5 points and 12 kills. Niall Burton scored 13.5 points with 8 kills, and Manuel Hernandez scored 12.5 points with 10 kills.
