Hawks Drop Season Opener at Rockhurst

Kansas City, MO - The Quincy University men's lacrosse team played their season opener against Rockhurst University, Saturday (Feb. 5). The Hawks were not able to stop Rockhurst and fell by a 21-9 final score.

 

Quincy fell behind early in the game as they went scoreless in the first period, 6-0. The Hawks scored two goals in the second period as Blaine Lowrance scored the first goal assisted by Ray Lingard, 6-1. Before heading to halftime, Neal Dardis scored the second goal for the Hawks but this did not stop Rockhurst as they scored seven goals total to finish the period with a 13-2 score. 

 

The Hawks allowed two goals in the third period and scored a total of five goals led by Dardis with two goals scored and Gage Evans with two more. Christian Czarny scored one goal assisted by Jordan Ernst to shorten the difference on the score to 15-7. 

 

In the fourth and last period of the game, Preston Willman and Caidyn Prediger added one goal each for the Hawks but their efforts were not enough as Rockhurst extended their lead to 21-9 final score.

 

Quincy's goalkeeper Ryan Riggs recorded a total of 19 saves.

 

Next Game

The Hawks will stay on the road as they will be heading to Lake Forest, IL to face Lake Forest College for an exhibition game Saturday (feb. 12) at 1:00 P.M.
