COLUMBUS, GA— The Hawks could not get their offense going in the series finale against the eighth ranked Columbus State Cougars and fell by the score of 6-1.
The Cougars were able to strike first against Hawk pitching as Derek Wylie hit a sac fly to center field to make it 1-0. In the bottom of the 3
rd, Steven Minter would double down the left field line scoring one run as CSU extended the lead out to 2-0.
With the wind blowing into this afternoon in Columbus, Matthew McDade was able to muster a ball over the left field wall to make it 3-0 Columbus State. In the top of the 5
th,
Dayson Croes would single to center scoring
Tyler Carpenter to make it 3-1. As it was the Cougars turn to bat in the bottom half of the inning, Will Wilbanks extended the lead back out to 3 runs at 4-1. CSU would add 2 more runs in the bottom of the 6
th as Robert Brooks tripled down the right field line to make it 6-1.
