COLUMBUS, GA – The Hawks were swept in a doubleheader against the #8 Columbus State Cougars this afternoon by the scores of 8-7 and 10-6.
Game 1
The Hawks started game 1 off strong, as
Lance Logsdon blasted a 2-run homerun to left field for a 2-0 lead. Columbus State would answer right back with a homerun of their own to make it 2-1 Hawks.
After a quiet 2
nd inning, the Cougar bats would come alive with a double, then they drew a walk. With two runners on, CSU would take the lead with a 3-run homerun at 4-2.
In the top of the 4
th,
Tanner Dreher cut the Cougar lead in half with a homerun to left field. Columbus State would extend the lead to 3 at 6-3 with a 2-run homerun to center field.
After adding 2 runs in the Quincy half of the 6
th,
Brock Boynton and
Gino D'Alessio would each hit RBI singles to give the Hawks a 7-6 lead.
Steven Minter ended game 1 to give the Cougars the 8-7 win with a 2 RBI single to the shortstop.

GAME 2
The 8
th ranked Cougars would strike first in the nightcap on Saturday in the bottom of the 2
nd. As the game moved to the 4
th inning,
Nolan Wosman singled to left field to tie the game at 1. Then a few batters later,
Luke Napleton hit a 3-run homerun to give the Hawks a 4-1 lead.
Matthew McDade would make it 4-2 as he blasted a homerun in the bottom of the 5
th for CSU. Quincy would see its largest lead in the top of the 6
th thanks to a 2 RBI single by
Tanner Dreher.
Columbus State showed patience at the plate in the bottom of the 6
th. The Hawks would go through 4 different pitchers in the inning. They would score eight runs on 2 hits. Hawk pitching would allow 3 walks and a hit by pitch which resulted in 4 runs. CSU took game 2 of the doubleheader 10-6.
