Columbus, OH – On Thursday evening, the Hawks traveled to the Covelli Center for the first time in 2 years and lost 3-0 (20-25, 15-25, 18-25) to the #15 Ohio State Buckeyes.
Set 1
Ohio State came out hot in set 1 as they jumped out to a 10-2 lead over the Hawks. As the set progressed, Quincy got with in two at 17-15. That was as close as the set would get as the Buckeyes would take set 1 by the score of 25-20. The Hawks were led by
Manuel Hernandez with 4 kills.
Set 2
During the early stages of the 2
nd set, it was back and forth as the Hawks tied it at 10. From that point, the Buckeyes went on an 8-3 run to make it 18-13. Ohio State would take a two sets to none lead with a 25-15 win over the Hawks. Through the 2
nd set, the OSU has hit an outstanding .453.
Set 3
The Hawks and Buckeyes traded points to open the 3
rd set. As the set carried on, the Buckeyes would extend the lead to as many as 5 points at 17-12. OSU's attack was too much for the Hawks as they totaled 48 kills on 82 attacks. for the match. Ohio State took the 3
rd set 25-18 to complete the sweep.
