QUINCY, Ill. – The men's and women's swimming teams hosted the Bulldogs of Truman State University on Friday evening (Nov. 4) in the first conference contest to take place at the HFC Pool in the history of both programs.
 
Both the men's and women's squads were sunk by TSU with a final score on the men's side of 101-80 and a 161-26 finish for the ladies.
 
The men's team picked up five event wins on the evening, four individual victories and one in a relay. Wyatt Walsh took home a first-place finish in the 500 yard freestyle, Jeronimo Augurusa Franco in the 100 yard backstroke, Martiniano Montero in 100 yard butterfly, Borna Kisasondi in the 50 yard freestyle and a team win in the 400 yard medley relay.
 
The women's team had a host of second place finishes but couldn't quite put it all together to win an event against a well-equipped and established Truman State squad. It was an uphill battle from the start that the Hawks were not able to surmount.
 
Both squads have a quick turnaround, back in action once again tomorrow afternoon at the HFC Pool for a 1 p.m. meet against the Simpson College Storm in a non-conference showdown.
