INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced its postseason awards for the 2022 football season on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. The Hawks had seventeen men recognized for their achievements on the field, which set a program record breaking the mark of 14 set last season.
Senior left tackle
BJ Wilson was the lone Hawk to be named to the first team. Wilson holds the program record for most career starts with 45. This is the 2
nd time Wilson has been named to the first team All-GLVC in his career and third time he has been recognized by the league.
For the fourth time in his career, senior linebacker
Peyten Chappel has been placed on an all-conference team. For the 2022 season, he was one of six Hawks named to the 2
nd team. The career leader in tackles registered 102 total tackles this fall. He also got into the backfield on occasion tallying 8.5 TFLs and 4.5 sacks. Chappel picked off 2 opposing quarterback passes.
A transfer from Northwest Missouri State, linebacker
Peyton Plunkett was named to the 2
nd team as a utility guy and honorable mention for his job in the linebacker spot. He led the team in TFLs with 18 and eight sacks. The Palmyra, Missouri native forced six fumbles for a team high.
Joseph Webb, who also transferred from Northwest Missouri State, joins Plunkett and Chappel on the 2
nd team. He recorded 59 tackles, playing in all 11 games for the Hawks as a defensive back. Webb forced two fumbles and recovered another one.
David Tabakovic has been recognized by the league for the second time in his career. During his 2022 campaign, he recorded 6 TFLs and 4 sacks.
Despite only appearing in seven games, senior wide receiver AJ Hardin has been named to the 2
nd team as well. He caught 27 passes for 471 yards and six touchdowns.
Hardin's fellow receiver
Jalen Lawrence rounds out the Hawk contingent on the 2
nd team. Lawrence caught 51 passes for 818 yards. He found the end zone nine times.
Ten Hawks were named to the honorable mention portion of the all-conference awards, four from the defensive side of the ball and six men from the offensive side.
Sophomore defensive back Davis Lewis leads the group of Hawks on the honorable mention group as he recorded 46 tackles. He also had an interception and a forced fumble.
Quincy native
Jackson Connell is the third linebacker to be recognized by the league. Connell collected 4.5 TFLs plus 52 total tackles appearing in all 11 games. He had two interceptions, including one for a touchdown.
Defensive linemen
Cole Schnettgoecke gains honorable mention recognition for the 2
nd time in his career. Registering 2.5 TFLs and 2.5 sacks, he added 19 total tackles for the Hawks.
Out of the tight end position,
Hans Wisnewski picks up honorable mention for his performance. The sophomore out of Michigan caught 24 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns.
The senior wide out from Florissant, Missouri Paul Sullivan Jr is the only receiver on the honorable mention team. Appearing in 9 games, he caught 33 passes for 325 yards and one touchdown.
Leading the Hawk running backs,
Tremayne Lee picks up honorable mention recognition. The transfer from SIU – Carbondale rushed for 848 yards on 193 carries, finding the end zone 8 times.
The Hawk signal caller
Tionne Harris received honorable mention for his stand out season. Completing 236 of 388 passes, with 25 of them finding the end zone. He threw for 3,148 yards. For his career, he sits in 2
nd all-time for most passing yards. The single season yards is three shy of the all-time single season mark.
