The Quincy University men's volleyball team triumphed over Saint Ambrose University 3-1 in a match at Pepsi Arena on Tuesday (Jan 25) night.

1st Set

While SAU got to a hot start with the game's first kill, their sloppy play, along with four service aces (two by Niall Burton,) gave the Hawks the advantage. In the end, the Hawks easily took the set 25-13.Â

2nd Set
Â
The good luck continued for the Hawks in the second set. While the Fighting Bees tightened up their play and once again got the first kill of the set, QU responded by letting their offensive game shine. Nathan Lawton landed the first two kills of the set for the Hawks, the first of sixteen in the set as the team once again won, this time with a final score of 25-21.

3rd Set

The third set started out strong, with the Hawks scoring the first five points, among them being two kills from Eddie Jakubauskas. However, after this rush of points, QU was unable to keep the momentum going, which ultimately led to the Hawks losing the set 21-25.

4th Set
Â
The Hawks were able to recover for the fourth and final set of the game. Lawton landed the first kill for QU, the first of fourteen in the set, and rode that wave to a 25-19 win, sealing their victory for the match in the process.

Nathan Lawton led the Hawks with 18.5 points scored and 16 kills. Cooper Coleman scored 12 points with 10 kills, and Eddie Jakubauskas scored 11 points with 9 kills.
