SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Quincy University baseball team continued their series against the fourth-ranked University of Illinois Springfield on Saturday (May 8). The Hawks came up short against UIS and fell in both games by a score of 5-0 in game one and 7-1 game two.
Game 1
UIS scored first in the first game of the twinbill. The home Prairie Stars led 2-0 in the bottom of the second and then scored two more in the next inning to make it 4-0. UIS scored one more time in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to 5-0.
The Hawks went scoreless in all seven innings after recording just two hits in the 5-0 defeat.
Game 2
QU knocked the ball around in the first inning of game two to start things off. Jacob Kalusniak led off the top of the first inning with a single, this was followed by a ground out from Dayson Croes that moved Kalusniak to second. With one out, Lance Logsdon hit a single and put runners on the corners for Michael Nielsen who proceeded to hit a RBI single to give the Hawks an early lead.
UIS took back the lead in the bottom of the fourth after a two-run homerun to make it 2-1. The Prairie Stars scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth after a couple of hits and an error helped extend their lead to 4-1. Illinois-Springfield scored three more times in the next inning after a three-run shot put things out of reach.
Quincy fell 7-1 in the second game of the doubleheader.

The Hawks will be concluding the series and the regular season against University of Illinois Springfield tomorrow (May 9) at 12:00 P.M.
