OZARK, MO. – The Quincy University baseball team won 9-7 and 8-6 on Saturday (May 1) afternoon during a doubleheader at Drury. 
Game 1
QU scored in the top of the first on a Lance Logsdon single to center field to drive in Dayson Croes and take a 1-0 lead. 
Drury scored three in the bottom of the first on a RBI single, SAC fly, and balk and the Hawks trailed 3-1 after the first. 
Quincy had an outburst in the second when Jacob Kalusniak walked to score Joe Roscetti which cut the score within one at 3-2. Who else other than Dayson Croes then singled to score Cole Evans and tied the game at three. Michael Nielsen then capped off the scoring in the second with a mammoth grand slam to left field. QU held a 7-3 advantage after the second inning. 
Drury plated a run in the bottom of the second on a SAC fly, and QU's lead was cut to 7-4. Brock Boynton singled to drive in Evans the next half inning as the Hawks took a 8-4 lead. The Panthers used two RBI doubles in the bottom of the third and pulled within two, 8-6, after three innings. 
Drury then made it a one-run game in the sixth on a RBI single, but an inning-ending double play helped QU maintain a one-run advantage at 8-7 after the Panthers' looked to tie. 
QU added an insurance run on a Boynton RBI single which brought home Evans. 
Sam Stephens was able to earn the save out of the bullpen. Tyler Carpenter got the win after tossing a scoreless fourth inning after three innings of work from Logsdon. 
Game 2
QU struck first when Brock Boynton doubled to center field and scored Joe Roscetti and Gino D'Alessio to give QU a 2-0 lead. After Croes stuck out swinging, Luke Napleton was able to advance home and Quincy led 3-0. In the bottom of the second, Drury used an RBI single to pull the score to 3-1. Luke Napleton blasted another RBI double to score Roscetti and D'Alessio again, and QU led 5-1. Later in the third inning, Jacob Kalusniak reached on an error which allowed Napleton to come around and score to take a 6-1 lead. 
D'Alessio then slapped a RBI single which drove in Logsdon, then Michael Nielsen was able to score on a throwing error which gave the Hawks a commanding 8-1 advantage. 
Drury made things interesting late after an RBI triple to right field made the score 8-2 in the bottom of the seventh. Another RBI single then made the score 8-3, and then a three-run home run pulled Drury with two runs at 8-6. Spencer Walker stayed in the entire game and picked up the victory despite surrendering five runs in the bottom of the seventh.
