OZARK, MO. – The QU Baseball team beat Drury 13-2 on Friday (April 30) evening in the series opener at U.S. Baseball Park. Riley Martin took a no-hitter into the seventh while Lance Logsdon belted two home runs in the victory.
QU plated three runs in the first behind a Lance Logsdon three-run home run. QU added a run in the second on an error, a run in the third on a SAC fly, and another score in the fourth behind Logsdon's second homer of the day. QU led 6-0 after four frames.
The Hawks erupted in the fifth after Michael Nielsen reached on an error to score Jacob Kalusniak. Nolan Wosman, Joe Roscetti, and Cole Evans each had RBI knocks, and QU commanded a 12-0 lead after the fifth.
Quincy scratched one more run across in the top of the seventh when Brock Boynton reached on a fielder's choice to score Gino D'Alessio.
Ace Riley Martin entered the seventh with a no-hitter, but in the seventh and final inning (short game) Drury was able to notch three hits and scratch two runs across.
Despite the late-game flurry, Martin recorded 13 strikeouts and now has 111 on the season in 59.0 innings pitched. This was the third complete game for the lefty who has an 8-1 record through nine starts.
